Vulcan Ballistic Cummerbund

Modular plate carrier cummerbund with integrated soft-armor compartments, external MOLLE/PALS expansion, elastic tensioning, and hook-and-loop attachment for compatible Vulcan carrier systems.

The Zentauron Vulcan Ballistic Cummerbund is designed as an upgrade or replacement cummerbund for compatible plate carriers where the user wants to combine load-bearing capability with the option for additional soft-armor coverage along the sides of the torso.

Dedicated internal compartments allow compatible soft ballistic inserts to be added, while the exterior MOLLE/PALS surface remains available for magazines, radios, medical equipment, and other modular accessories.

An integrated elastic section helps maintain a secure fit during movement and accommodates changes in body position and clothing layers.

Integrated Soft Armor Compartments

Each side of the cummerbund incorporates a dedicated compartment for compatible soft ballistic inserts.

The compartments use protective flaps to retain the installed armor and allow the ballistic components to be removed or replaced when required.

This gives the system two possible configurations:

Without Armor Inserts
Functions as a modular load-bearing cummerbund.

With Compatible Soft Armor
Provides additional side-armor capability according to the certified protection level of the installed inserts.

Ballistic inserts are not included unless specifically stated.

Additional Side Coverage

Conventional plate carriers concentrate their primary armor coverage on the front and rear torso.

Adding compatible soft armor to the cummerbund can extend coverage along the sides and help reduce the unprotected area between the front and rear armor panels.

MOLLE / PALS Expansion

IRR / NIR-Oriented Materials

The cummerbund is manufactured from Cordura® Polyamide 6.6 with Polyamide 6.6 webbing.

The materials are IRR/NIR-oriented and designed to reduce infrared reflectance compared with conventional civilian equipment.

This is particularly relevant for military and professional tactical applications where equipment signature in the near-infrared spectrum is a consideration.

Ballistic Protection Notice

The Vulcan Ballistic Cummerbund is a textile carrier for compatible ballistic inserts.

It does not provide ballistic protection by itself.

The actual protection level depends entirely on the installed certified armor inserts, their condition, size, placement, and correct use within the complete plate carrier system.

Mission Frontline Take

The main advantage of this cummerbund is that it combines side-load carriage and optional armor coverage in one component.

A standard MOLLE cummerbund gives you space for pouches, but it does nothing to extend ballistic coverage. This version gives you the option to add compatible soft armor without sacrificing the ability to mount radios, magazines, medical gear, or utility equipment on the outside.

The elastic section is also important because a ballistic cummerbund can easily become rigid and uncomfortable once armor inserts and side-mounted equipment are added. The integrated stretch helps preserve a more natural fit around the torso.
