Hybrid Cordura® and Kydex® magazine pouch designed for fast access, secure retention, and easy reinsertion of common 5.56 NATO rifle magazines.
The Zentauron Quick-Draw 5.56 Magazine Pouch combines a durable Cordura® Polyamide 6.6 outer body with a rigid Kydex® U-profile to create a stable, open-top pouch for common 5.56 mm rifle magazines.
Elastic shock-cord retention allows the holding pressure to be adjusted to suit different magazine types and user preferences.
The pouch mounts to standard MOLLE/PALS platforms using two integrated Faststick straps.
Made in Germany.
Fast Open-Top Access
The rigid Kydex® insert helps the pouch maintain its shape when empty.
This makes it easier to:
- Draw a magazine quickly
- Reinsert a magazine one-handed
- Keep the pouch opening accessible
- Avoid the pouch collapsing after the magazine is removed
Compared with a fully soft pouch, the hybrid construction provides more structure while retaining the durability and flexibility of Cordura®.
Adjustable Magazine Retention
Elastic shock cord around the pouch allows the retention pressure to be adjusted.
This lets the user tune the fit according to:
- Magazine dimensions
- Desired retention level
- Equipment configuration
- Personal preference
The system is designed to hold the magazine securely while still allowing fast access.
Cordura® + Kydex® Hybrid Construction
The pouch combines several materials for different functions.
Cordura® Polyamide 6.6
Provides the flexible outer structure and abrasion resistance.
Kydex® U-Profile
Provides rigidity and helps maintain the pouch opening.
PVC-Coated Interior
The internal PVC tarpaulin lining creates a smooth contact surface around the magazine.
Polyamide 6.6 Webbing
Used throughout the attachment and retention structure.
Broad 5.56 Magazine Compatibility
According to Zentauron, the pouch is compatible with a wide range of common 5.56 mm rifle magazines, including:
- M4 / M16
- STANAG-pattern magazines
- PMAGs
- AUG
- FAMAS
- SCAR-L
- FN F2000
- FN FNC
- SIG 55X
- AK-74 / AK-100-series 5.56-format variants where dimensions are compatible
- SA80
- Other similarly sized 5.56 mm magazines
Exact retention can vary depending on magazine body shape, material, baseplate, and generation.
MOLLE / PALS Attachment
Two integrated Faststick straps secure the pouch to standard MOLLE/PALS platforms.
Suitable mounting locations include:
- Plate carriers
- Chest rigs
- Battle belts
- Tactical belts with MOLLE panels
- Backpacks
- Other compatible load-bearing equipment
Compact Profile
The pouch measures approximately:
3.0 × 4.7 × 1.0 in / 7.5 × 12 × 2.5 cm
and weighs approximately:
2.5 oz / 70 g
This keeps the pouch relatively compact while still providing enough structure for reliable magazine retention.

Compatibility Note
Magazine dimensions vary significantly between manufacturers and generations.
Although Zentauron lists compatibility with numerous 5.56 mm magazine types, retention and fit may differ depending on:
- Magazine body geometry
- Baseplate design
- Material
- Generation
- Installed accessories
The adjustable shock cord allows the pouch to accommodate some of these differences.
Mission Frontline Take
The key advantage here is the Cordura® / Kydex® hybrid design.
A completely soft magazine pouch is lightweight and simple, but tends to collapse when empty. A fully rigid pouch can be fast, but is often less forgiving across different magazine shapes.
This design sits between those two approaches: the Kydex® provides enough structure to keep the opening usable, while the Cordura® body and adjustable shock cord provide flexibility across a broader range of 5.56 magazines.
For users who want a German-made open-top 5.56 pouch with adjustable retention and easy reinsertion, this is one of the more versatile options in the Zentauron magazine-pouch lineup.
