Modular 30-liter assault pack designed for military daypack use, radio transport, hydration integration, and direct wear over body armor.

The Zentauron M.A.R.S. — Modular Assault Rucksack Standard — is a compact 30-liter combat backpack built around modularity, load control, and compatibility with military equipment.

Its internal layout is designed for more than simple general storage. A dedicated rear compartment can accept either a removable plastic stiffener panel or a hydration bladder up to 3 liters, while a separate adjustable internal section allows heavier equipment to be secured close to the back.

This feature was developed with larger radios such as the SEM 70 and PRC-series systems in mind, but it can also be used for other dense or heavy equipment.

Made in Germany.

30-Liter Assault Pack Capacity

The M.A.R.S. provides approximately:

30 L / 1,831 cu in

of internal volume.

This makes it suitable as a:

  • Military daypack
  • Assault pack
  • Radio pack
  • Hydration-compatible field pack
  • Patrol pack
  • General-purpose tactical backpack

It offers enough capacity for mission essentials without moving into the size class of larger sustainment or expedition packs.

Internal Stiffener / Hydration Compartment

A dedicated rear internal sleeve can be used for:

  • Plastic stiffener panel
  • Hydration bladder up to 3 L / 101 fl oz

A stiffener can help prevent hard or irregular equipment from pressing directly into the user's back.

Plastic stiffener panel is not included.

Internal Load-Securing System

In front of the rear sleeve is a separate compartment with two adjustable retention straps.

These straps allow heavier equipment to be secured against the rear panel rather than moving freely inside the pack.

The system was developed specifically with equipment such as:

  • SEM 70 radio systems
  • PRC-series radios
  • Other communications equipment
  • Dense tools
  • Batteries
  • Heavy mission equipment

in mind.

Keeping heavier items close to the back can also improve load stability compared with allowing them to shift toward the outer edge of the pack.

Cable, Antenna & Hydration Routing

Two pass-through openings are positioned near the upper carry handle.

These can be used for:

  • Radio antennas
  • Communication cables
  • Hydration tubes
  • Other compatible leads

This makes it possible to operate carried equipment without routing everything through the main zipper opening.

Internal Mesh Pocket

An additional mesh pocket provides storage for small equipment and accessories.

Its position allows it to remain accessible even when the main compartment is heavily loaded.

Suitable items can include:

  • Batteries
  • Cables
  • Navigation accessories
  • Gloves
  • Small electronics
  • Personal items

Extensive Front MOLLE / PALS

The front of the M.A.R.S. features a large:

8-row × 7-column MOLLE/PALS field

This provides substantial external expansion space for compatible equipment.

Possible additions include:

  • Magazine pouches
  • Medical pouches
  • Utility pouches
  • Hydration accessories
  • Tools
  • Other MOLLE/PALS-compatible equipment

Front Identification Panel

A hook-and-loop panel in the upper front section allows the pack to accept:

  • ID patches
  • Unit markings
  • Name tapes
  • Role identifiers

Side MOLLE Expansion

Both sides provide additional MOLLE/PALS webbing.

The available mounting area is large enough to accommodate substantial side pouches, including larger Zentauron combat pouches.

This allows the 30-liter base pack to be expanded significantly when required.

Armor-Compatible Carry System

The shoulder straps are ergonomically shaped and paired with a split back pad.

The split padding serves two purposes.

Worn Over Body Armor

When worn over a protective vest or plate carrier, the split back padding helps the pack sit more naturally against the armor.

Worn Without Armor

Without body armor, the central gap creates an airflow channel that can improve ventilation between the pack and the user's back.

Removable Waist Belt

A removable waist belt provides additional stability during movement.

Users who prefer a lighter or more armor-focused configuration can remove it when not required.

Stowable Harness System

For vehicle or pallet transport, the complete shoulder harness can be stored behind the back padding.

This helps reduce:

  • Snagging
  • Loose straps
  • Tangling during storage
  • Problems when loading multiple packs

It also makes the pack easier to secure inside vehicles or transport containers.

External Compression & Securing Straps

The side compression straps are sized not only to stabilize the contents but also to secure the M.A.R.S. to:

  • Larger backpacks
  • Vehicle interiors
  • Transport systems
  • Other suitable mounting points

This gives the pack additional flexibility beyond normal shoulder carry.

Mission Frontline Take

The M.A.R.S. is much more interesting than a basic 30-liter tactical backpack because the internal layout is designed around actual mission equipment rather than just clothing and general gear.

The radio-retention system is a good example. Heavy equipment can be secured close to the back instead of bouncing around inside the main compartment, and the dedicated cable and antenna exits make the pack genuinely useful for communications equipment.

We also like the split back panel and stowable harness. Those features matter in military use because a pack may be worn over armor one moment and then packed tightly into a vehicle the next.

For users who want a German-made 30-liter assault pack with serious MOLLE expansion, radio capability, hydration compatibility, and armor-friendly ergonomics, the M.A.R.S. is one of the stronger all-round military daypacks in the Zentauron range.
