The AB Operator Grid Fleece Jacket is the hoodless version of AB's proven Delta Hoodie and is designed as a versatile insulation layer for duty, training, outdoor use, and everyday wear.

Its distinctive grid fleece construction creates small insulating air pockets while allowing excess heat and moisture to escape during physical activity. The result is a highly functional midlayer that provides warmth without the bulk of traditional fleece.

Wear it as a midlayer underneath a shell or insulated jacket, or as a standalone outer layer in mild and cool conditions.

The stretch fabric allows unrestricted movement, while reinforced high-wear areas at the shoulders and elbows improve durability when working around packs, body armor, equipment, or other gear.

A smooth mesh lining increases comfort and makes the jacket easier to layer over base layers and other clothing.

Mission Frontline Take

Grid fleece is one of those layers that makes much more sense once you start building a proper clothing system rather than relying on one heavy jacket for everything.

The Operator is designed for exactly that role.

Its biggest advantage is temperature regulation during movement. The grid structure traps enough air to provide useful insulation, but it also gives heat and moisture an easier way to escape compared with a dense traditional fleece.

That makes it particularly useful for training, hiking, field work, range days, vehicle use, or any situation where your activity level changes throughout the day.

We also like the hoodless configuration. Under a hard shell, cold-weather jacket, helmet, or other equipment, one less hood around the neck can make the entire layering system feel considerably cleaner.

If you're looking for maximum standalone warmth, a heavier fleece or insulated jacket will outperform it. But as a breathable, mobile midlayer, the Operator fills an extremely useful role in a modular clothing system.
