AB Field Tarp IRR – 10K Waterproof / Blackout

The AB Field Tarp IRR is a versatile weather-protection and shelter system developed for military, professional, and demanding outdoor applications.

Constructed from durable 70D nylon, the tarp combines a waterproof PU membrane with a 10,000 mm waterproof rating and 5,000 g/m²/24h breathability, providing protection from rain and wind while allowing moisture vapor to escape.

The outer fabric features IRR treatment according to TL 8305-0290, designed to reduce infrared reflectance. An integrated PU Blackout layer significantly reduces light transmission through the material, making the tarp particularly useful for concealed shelters, observation positions, and field camps.

A reinforced attachment system with 16 perimeter loops and three centerline attachment points provides numerous configuration options for building lean-tos, A-frame shelters, bivouacs, equipment covers, and other field setups.

Integrated reinforced carry handles also expand the tarp's versatility for emergency field use.

Mission Frontline Take

The AB Field Tarp IRR is a noticeably more technical shelter than a conventional camping tarp.

The combination of 10K waterproofing, breathable construction, IRR treatment, and a blackout membrane makes it particularly useful when weather protection and concealment both matter.

What we especially like is the attachment layout. Sixteen perimeter loops plus three centerline points give you enough flexibility to build anything from a quick rain shelter to a more structured bivouac or observation setup.

At roughly 3.5 lb, it is also lighter than many traditional heavy-duty military tarps of comparable size while still retaining a reinforced field-oriented construction.

The integrated carry handles are an interesting additional feature for emergency situations. However, unless a certified load rating is provided by the manufacturer, we would not treat the tarp as a substitute for a certified rescue litter or medical stretcher.

For professional field use, bushcraft, vehicle kits, observation setups, or anyone looking for a serious waterproof and low-signature shelter rather than a basic recreational tarp, this is a very capable option.
