Serious insulation for cold, wet and demanding conditions.

The AB Extreme Cold Weather Jacket Level 7 is a heavily insulated cold-weather parka designed for low temperatures, wind, and changing weather conditions. Built as the high-loft insulation layer of a cold-weather clothing system, it provides substantial warmth while remaining lightweight and packable.

At the core of the jacket is PrimaLoft® Silver HiLoft Ultra™ insulation, with 160 g/m² through the body and 120 g/m² in the sleeves. This provides high thermal performance without the bulk and weight traditionally associated with heavy winter jackets.

A durable nylon ripstop shell, DWR treatment, and breathable PU membrane help protect against wind, moisture, and light precipitation while allowing excess heat and moisture to escape during physical activity.

The adjustable hood, underarm ventilation, two-way front zipper, fleece-lined hand pockets, and multiple equipment pockets make the Level 7 suitable for military and duty use, cold-weather training, outdoor operations, bushcraft, survival, travel, and demanding winter conditions.

Despite its high level of insulation, the jacket remains compressible and can be packed down for transport in a rucksack, vehicle kit, or deployment bag.

Mission Frontline Take

The Level 7 is the jacket we would look at when a lightweight midlayer simply isn't enough anymore.

Its main advantage is the combination of serious insulation and relatively low weight. PrimaLoft® Silver HiLoft Ultra™ provides substantial warmth without turning the jacket into an excessively heavy winter parka, while the generous cut and functional design make it well suited to a proper layering system.

We especially like the underarm ventilation. Heavy insulation is great when you're stationary, but overheating quickly becomes an issue once you start moving. Being able to dump heat without removing the jacket makes the Level 7 considerably more versatile during active use.

For cold-weather duty, winter training, extended time outdoors, or anyone building a serious cold-weather clothing system, this is one of the strongest insulated options in the AB lineup.

One thing to keep in mind: despite its membrane and DWR-treated shell, we see the Level 7 primarily as an insulation layer, not as a replacement for a dedicated waterproof hard shell during prolonged heavy rain.
